Stress Management

Stress is the known cause of all diseases and life without stress doesn’t exist. In this speech, we are going to examine our stress levels; we’ll also identify what stress us (stressors) and how to deal with these stresses so they won’t bother us. Finally, we’ll look at some of the tips that will make us deal with stresses more effectively.
I would like you to look at the piece of paper on your desk. Check which category applies to you. I will go through the list from 1 to 12. See if any of this stressful things occurs too you and at what level (e.g. 0 to 4). 0 means you experience no stress and 4 means you’re stressed out. Add all the things that stress you—the highest number of stress you can get according to what we have on the table below is 12. (But remember your overall stress in life could be more that this list). Multiple this numbers in this experiment by 2 (we are assuming that all our stress in this world should not be more than 24 things, since 24 is a long list which this speech time won’t allow, we stick with list of 12). Multiple 24 by 4 (4 mean number of stress level perceived, 1 mean little and 4 means great deal). The total number shouldn’t be more than 96. If you score less than 40 points, you are not stressed, if you score 41 to 60, you are stressed and need to improve, and if you are above 60, you are definitely stressed and you need immediate attention.
I want you to crumple the sheet of paper I gave you in the beginning of the speech and throw it aiming at my nose. Whoever can hit my nose first, I will give you $10. This is not a lot of money, but it can buy you a meal in McDonalds. Let’s go!
Now what you just did was you identified your stress, crushed it and threw it to the stressor which unfortunately is me—I don’t mean to stress anyone here ladies and gents! That’s just a joke, but this is just a demonstration to get ride of your stress and deflects it to your stressor. Don’t let your stress bothers you.
Here are some of the tips that will help you manage your stress:
- accept stress as it is, do not try too hard to get rid of it
- relax and do your work with easy
- ignore odd or silly things that doesn’t significantly affect your life
- enjoy chatting and socializing with others
- have enough sleep
- be contended and thankful even if you are not completely satisfied
- exercise regularly
- eat well-balanced diet
- be positive
- look yourself in the mirror and smile
- forgive and forget little petit things
- love and treat people with respect
Stress can cause us harm if not controlled. Knowing that stress exists, identifying your stressor and learning how to deal with stress, you’re not only going to be happier and healthier and you will be an effective and adorable individual.
