Giving

How many of you are willing to make difference in someone’s life? How many? To make difference in someone’s life, we must start giving—either in kind or in cash.
Giving in charity is reaching out to less fortunate people and creating a difference in their lives. With an increase in the world population comes with increasing in poverty, and if we don’t act now, we would not only fail humanity, we would face the consequences of inhumanity such as famine, war, sickness and so forth.
After all, what is charity? Charity is a Latin word (Caritas) which comes in two parts—love of God and love of man. That also means love of neighbor and oneself. When we have these loves (Love of God, Love of man, love of neighbor and love of one-self), we’ll be urged to love and help a fellow human being who is in need.
But why should we give in the first place? The need for us to give is not a rip-off—it is idealism. Look around the world that surrounds us! Millions of people are suffering in Asia, India, and Africa. Even in the United States, we have homeless people, handicaps, and mentally ill and sick people who are in need of help. These people are human beings who deserve a better life like you and me. And their inability to have a better life is not completely their fault, therefore, let’s start giving.
How do you give for meaningful purpose without been scam? You can give in kind by volunteering for charitable services or you can give money to charitable organization that are willing to go out of their ways to spread love and kindness to those people who are in need of affection, and support socially, mentally and educationally. For example, I found a charitable organization with handful of Gambian youths which membership is close to hundred people. This organization which was founded in 2002 is called the Gambian Youths Organization. It is a non profit organization designed to help sick people, needy students, cloth homeless people, and help members in hardship and help pay funerals services for our lost ones. You can find this kind of organizations in the Internet, but I recommend you to do thorough research to make sure you contact a genuine one.
In the end, you ask yourself, “What do I get out of this?” I would say “self fulfillment.” By advancing the lives of less unfortunate people who are the object of the charitable desire, you have achieved a self fulfilling endeavor. Fulfilling that inner part of you—that says to you, yes, I care for the living. It says to you life is not all about money, but also giving to get the selflessness satisfaction. Remember! You don’t have to have money to give; you can give through volunteer services such as Pecos, an activist or a community organizer.
Ladies and gentlemen, being aware with the poverty and insufficiency in the world today creates a sense of charitable purpose in each one of us which is translate to charitable deeds, therefore, urging us to reach out and creates a difference in lives of others.
